"Hope"  "Health"  "Opportunity"  "Progress"  "Education"

Did you know that at least 10% of the world's population, or 650 million people, live with a disability? And that 20% of the worlds poor are disabled?

On December 3rd, 2014, people around the world celebrated International Day of People with Disability. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

Help Them HOPE used this special day to reach out to local schools in Peru. We provided them with educational inclusive materials, games, and workshops to use with their students. Furthermore, we asked if they would host a non-uniform, or jeans day, to support Help Them HOPE and the amazing work we are doing providing educational scholarships to youth with disability throughout Peru! The HOPE staff even attended and spoke at some schools on the topic of disability and challenges for people with disability.

Five schools decided to participate on this special day. Thank you for your support!
