• My name is Violeta, I'm a leukemia survivor.

As a HOPE Scholarship recipient, I have the opportunity to live a more independent life.

  • About HOPE

HOPE Scholarship Recipients with HOPE Founder, John Whelan

Here I am with members of the HOPE Scholarship program and some of the HOPE team, including, the founder - John Whelan. The people Help Them HOPE supports, are people like me, who overcome illnesses such as Leukemia, or are burn survivors, have lost limbs due to accidents, or are blind or are visually impaired. Some of my peers live with an intellectual disability while others live with muscular dystrophy. However, we all have the same goals; get an education, graduate, and find sustainable employment. We want to improve our lives and make a positive difference in the lives of our families. Thanks to Help Them HOPE, over 100 youth like us have received support.

Those people in the picture became great friends of mine. We spent many years together in El Hogar San Francisco De Asis in Lima. I stayed there when I received treatment for Leukemia. It’s the people in this picture that inspired John to start, Help Them HOPE.
