"My dream is to study a career and support my family"
My name is Adelmo Torres Guerrero. I was born in the province of Moyobamba on July 18, 2000. My parents are Mr. Genaro Torres and Mrs. Martha Guerrero. Since I was young, I liked to dance and sing with my parents. Without a doubt, my childhood was the best period of my life.
Despite my physical condition, I continued helping my uncles in any way I was able. As years went by, my physical illness continued to worsen until my uncles were not able to take care of me or take me for treatment due to the lack of financial resources. It was very tough for me as I work every morning with extreme pain, one day was so bad that I could not get out of bed. Thankfully, one of my teachers took charge in seeking help, because she did not like seeing me suffer. She had me meet some people who would take me near Lima, to a home called San Francisco de Asis, where I could be supported and begin treatment. Thanks to Dr. Anthony Lazzara, who founded the Hogar, I have already gotten much better in regards to my health.
Last year, when I turned 18, I had to leave the house and rent a room close to the Hogar, to continue with my treatment. This year, I am finishing high school, and thanks to Help Them Hope, I am being supported with courses, so when I graduate, I can have something planned to study for my future.
