About me

I, Jordan Santos Yparraquirre Benito, was born on October 25th, 1990, in Lima, to my parents Don Santos Fortunato Yparraquirre Rosales and Doña Ana Isabel Benito Quispe. I was born with a visual disability called “Congenital Aniridia”. I also have cataracts and glaucoma. My visual disability has caused me many problems, but thankfully I was able to finish school.

Since I was little I’ve lived in the Rimac district. I completed primary and secondary school at Cesar Vallejo del Rimac. I finished my last year of secondary school in 2007 when I was 17 years old. When I turned 18, I started working at a cleaning and maintenance business called Limasa. I eventually started working in construction as well. My dad also works in construction and he often teaches it, so I’ve worked with him on occasion. My mom works in a store that sells meat and cooking products. I currently live with my mom and her fiance, who also has children around my age.

At the moment I am 25 years old and I have completed a office computer course at San Marcos University for visually impaired people. I recently started studying Physical Rehabilitation at the Daniel Alcides Carrión Institute, which will last one year. I attend school on the weekends from 8am to 12:30pm. Also, I am studying a technical course in Network Administration for people with visual impairment at San Ignacio de la Oyola Institute (ISIL). This course in addition to my studies in rehabilitation is a complement to my career and will allow me to have more work opportunities and a chance to make more money to support my family. My dream is to someday have my own business and perhaps study business administration in the future so I can manage my business.
